Hydrangeas Make Me Happy

I'm still on a bit of a floral theme and at the moment it's
my Hydrangeas that are making me happy.
So gorgeous!
But what is actually making me really, really happy about them is
that I've just discovered that it is really easy to dry them.

How happy will I be in deepest winter when I have a vase
of glamourous mophead hydrangeas to remind me of warmer times.
You'll find the instructions here - How To Dry Hydrangea Flowers
Do you think they would make you happy?

  2. Another hydrangea-lover here, too. We had them at our wedding - one great thing about them is that they don't really need arranging and look fabulous just suck into a block of Oasis (obviously not talking about Noel Gallagher's head, although even he might look better with a few hydrangeas).

Going to check out your link now.

Lovely post (and I especially love those self-coloured flowerheads in your pic)

  4. Sigh..................... mine only had one flower on this year....... I haven't a clue why, can only think that maybe I overpruned it at the end of last year. I have never had a problem with them before, so I shall just sit and gaze at yours.......... :O)

  5. I was given two lovely bushes in flower at my birthday Garden Party. One was white, and quickly turned light pink in our clay, and the other was bright pink anyway. I think they look great where we've planted them and next year I will have to look into drying some flower heads - they've gone over now.

  6. I love to dry hydrangeas, too. An elderly lady taught me to wait until fall sets in and the weather gets crisp, kinda like a first freeze. Then the petals won't curl up. I'm not sure if that's just for Oregon weather or everywhere. I finally got a bush for myself, but I've made tons of wreaths, people let me pick theirs. I've heard that the acidity in the soil determines the color, but not sure about that. Happy creating with those beautiful flowers!

  8. Thanks for the link to dry hydrangeas - never tried it. But right before I moved to a house without a yard I bought one, and am having it as a potted plant on my deck (if you have any pointers for that, I would like to know! Glad I came over from Floss' blog to yours!

  10. I love them too, but have also accidentally overpruned mine. They have some nice fat buds coming though so I hope they'll be ok. When I was a little girl my mother had them in our garden and I thought they looked like those old fashioned bathing caps.
