So what's making you happy?

So Agatha Christie Week seems to have lasted me a month or so...
Not that it has taken me a month to read just one book but with the
chillier evening it's been nice to curl up with a good book.
It really does make me happy!

Agatha Christie Week makes me happy

It's Agatha Christie Week
now that makes me happy because I love reading Agatha Christie.
At one time I had every single one of her Miss Marple books in paperback,
I gave them to a neighbour as my book shelves were overflowing. Something I sometimes regret but oh well it made her happy ....
Anyway this week I intend to indulge myself by reading some Agatha Christie only this time I think I'll visit the library and borrow the books rather than buy them.
Free books now that is enough to make anyone happy.
What's been amking you happy since we last spoke?

The Seaside

The British seaside makes me happy.

With all the fun of the fair, candy floss, ice creams and fish and chips.

Sandcastles, paddling, rock pooling and sitting huddled under towels.

Walking the dog on the beach, collecting shells.....

What makes you happy?

Hydrangeas Make Me Happy

I'm still on a bit of a floral theme and at the moment it's
my Hydrangeas that are making me happy.
So gorgeous!
But what is actually making me really, really happy about them is
that I've just discovered that it is really easy to dry them.

How happy will I be in deepest winter when I have a vase
of glamourous mophead hydrangeas to remind me of warmer times.
You'll find the instructions here - How To Dry Hydrangea Flowers
Do you think they would make you happy?

Another grey rainy day who could believe it is August?
Not that I mind, I'm one of those lucky people who actually like the rain.
Yes that's right folk, rain makes me happy!
The ducks seem quite happy too.

This weekend - Pies & Dahlias make me happy

The apple & blackberry pie was yummy and yes it made me very happy
and I have enough blackberries left to make another pie which should keep
the whole family happy.
This little dahlia opened her petals this weekend,
she is so pretty,
enough to make anyone happy especially if you've grown her from seed.
So what made you happy this weekend?

Would you like to win some flowers?

Would I be right in thinking that you would be really happy if someone sent you flowers?
Well the wonderful Miss Pickering is celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the arrival of The Hound and her 351st post on her rather lovely blog.
Pop over and leave a comment for a chance to win.
But be quick because I've only just discovered this and entries close at 5pm today.

Caramac

The car was full of dogs and kids
(who always make me happy, well almost always)
but I needed to stop at the shop for a pint of milk.
And there it was in all it's red and yellow retro glory,
just sitting on the counter,
waiting to be purchased and then consumed - a
Caramac
Could I resist? Of course not.
And it was delicious, all caramelly and melty in the mouth delicious.

That Caramac made me happy.
The childrens' Caramacs' also made them happy
but they reckoned they could have been happier
had I bought two each!
So, today, what makes you happy?

It's all about the little things

So I think this blog is going to be all about the little things that make me happy.
Well mostly because some big things just have to be shared too,
don't they?
Little, inconsequential things that maybe one takes for granted
but they actually make one happy.
Things like:
My morning cuppa - Tetleys' in a big pink mug.
My afternoon tea - Lady Grey in a vintage bone china cup and saucer.
The first plum of the season that I picked fat and juicy straight from the tree yesterday.
Getting comments on my first post - thank you, thank you, thank you.
The Amazon delivery containing that book, you know
the one that you've wanted to read for simply ages.
Discovering that this blog has followers - thank you, thank you, thank you.
Eating an egg laid by your very own hens.
That daisy in the lawn, Battenburgh cake and....
Oh so many things that make you happy.
